Publishing Charges
In 2024, the International Journal of Wildland Fire has moved to a fully Open Access publishing model.
As part of this change the journal will transition away from print with the final issue of 2023 (Volume 32, Issue 12). From 1 January 2024, there will no longer be a charge for subscription access to online articles.

Selecting copyright options and payment
CSIRO Publishing has partnered with the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) to offer a fast and convenient way for authors to select options for publication and pay any Article Publishing Charges.
Once your manuscript has been peer reviewed and accepted for publication, the corresponding author will be sent an email from the CCC with information on how to complete payment of any author charges. Payments should be made using the web-based RightsLink platform. On receipt of the email from the CCC, please click on the link in the email, which will take you to the transaction procedure at RightsLink. Here you will be prompted to create a RightsLink account if you do not already have one and choose options for publication.
To facilitate fast publication, please confirm your options for publication as soon as possible after receiving this email. Please note that your article cannot be published until you have selected your options in the RightsLink portal. If you do not wish to pay for any options, please decline all offers in the RightsLink portal.
If you have any payment-related enquires please contact: CSIROPublishing.support@copyright.com
From 1 January 2024, IJWF has moved to a fully Open Access publishing model. Papers will require the payment of an Article Publishing Charge (APC); please see below:
Currency | Article Publishing Charge |
AUD* | 3300 |
USD | 2700 |
EUR | 2500 |
GBP | 2200 |
*Inclusive of GST for Australian authors
APCs may be waived where the author(s) or their institutions(s) have no access to funding. Such requests must be made on submission of the manuscript and must be accompanied by a letter from the chair of the author’s department certifying that funds are not available for this use.
How can I pay for author charges?
Once your manuscript has been peer reviewed and accepted for publication, the corresponding author will be sent an email from our partner the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) with a link to their web-based RightsLink platform. Follow the link to the platform to review your publication options. For hybrid journals, you can decline Open Access, or choose an Open Access licence and complete payment of the Article Publishing Charge (APC). For fully Open Access journals, you must choose an Open Access licence and complete payment of the APC. You will have the option to pay by credit/debit card or by invoice and will be required to create an account to complete the secure transaction. If payment by invoice is selected, the invoice will be emailed to the corresponding author. A receipt of payment will also be sent to the corresponding author. Note that if you are identified as eligible for no cost Open Access through a Read and Publish agreement, you will be guided to claim this and select a Creative Commons licence on the RightsLink platform.
If a third party, such as your funding body, will pay to make your article Open Access, please forward the email from the CCC to them and ask them to complete the transaction procedure. Alternatively, you may forward the invoice to the appropriate person for payment.
To facilitate fast publication, please confirm your options for publication as soon as possible after receiving this email. Please note that your article cannot be published until you have selected your options in the RightsLink portal. For publication in hybrid journals, if you do not wish to pay for any options, please decline all offers in the RightsLink portal.
If you have any payment-related enquires please contact: CSIROPublishing.support@copyright.com
CSIRO Publishing cancellations/refund policy
In circumstances where the corresponding author wishes to cancel the payment order and provide alternative funder details (for example, if an author failed to provide funding / grant / institution information in order to secure payment from their funding body or institution, and asks to cancel the order so they can submit this information), CSIRO Publishing will allow the order to be cancelled and a full refund given. A refund will otherwise only be given in exceptional circumstances and will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
In the case an article is retracted from publication, no refund for author payments will be given.
For cancellation/refund enquiries, please contact: CSIROPublishing.support@copyright.com.
