Abstract
Dan Haneman died in Sydney as a result of Parkinson's disease on 13 December 2002. He made fundamental contributions to the study of clean semiconductor surfaces from the beginning of such studies in the 1950s. Perhaps his most important contributions were the Haneman model for semiconductor surfaces and the invention of novel experimental methods for the study of surfaces produced by cleavage in ultrahigh vacuum. Numerous PhD students benefited from his careful supervision over many years.https://doi.org/10.1071/HR06013
