Mark B. Puckett is president of Chevron Energy Technology Co. (ETC), headquartered in Houston, Texas. In this capacity, he is responsible for managing the company’s technology resources to meet its global portfolio needs across all business segments, including exploration and production and marketing and refining. ETC has major technology centers in Richmond and San Ramon, Calif., Houston, Texas, and two new global centers located in Perth, Australia, and Aberdeen, Scotland.

A native of DeKalb, Texas, Puckett earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University in 1973 and completed the Tuck Executive program at Dartmouth College in 1997.

Puckett joined Chevron in 1973 as a construction engineer in Lafayette, La. After serving in positions of increasing responsibility in engineering, drilling and operations, he was named operations superintendent for the West Texas division in 1985. In 1986, he was appointed manager of the oil recovery division for Chevron Oil Field Research Co., in La Habra, Calif., and in 1990, district manager of Kern River in Bakersfield, Calif.

From 1991 to 1994, Puckett served as managing director for Chevron Niugini Pty. Ltd., headquartered in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. In 1995, he was appointed managing director of Chevron Overseas Petroleum Inc.’s Angola/Zaire business unit based in Luanda, Angola. In August 1997, this role was expanded to managing director of the Southern Africa business unit, responsible for exploration and production activities in Angola, Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In April 2001, Puckett was named president of Chevron Petroleum Technology Co. (CPTC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Chevron Corp., based in Houston, Texas. He was responsible for worldwide exploration and production technology development and application.

He was named president for Exploration and Production Technology Co. (EPTC), headquartered in Houston, Texas, upon the formation of Chevron and Texaco in October 2001. Puckett was responsible for the development and application of exploration and production technology for domestic and international exploration and production operating companies.

He assumed his current position in August 2003, when Chevron combined EPTC and its Energy Research and Technology Co. (ERTC) into ETC.

Puckett is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the College of Engineering Advisory Council at Texas A&M University. Additionally, he has served as a director of various professional, civic and educational organizations.

Mr. Puckett was born in April 1951.
