Scope
The Australian Energy Producers Journal, recognised in the Australian upstream oil and gas industry as the leading peer-reviewed publication for information on geoscience, engineering and management, is a multidisciplinary technical journal. The Australian Energy Producers Journal comprises original peer-reviewed papers in any area of the upstream petroleum industry presented at the Australian Energy Producers Conference. Conference proceedings (Extended Abstracts and PESA reviews) are published as supplementary and are not peer-reviewed but are assessed by a member of the Technical Program Committee. Non-peer reviewed content published within supplements is clearly marked at the HTML level.
The Australian Energy Producers Journal is published by CSIRO Publishing on behalf of the Australian Energy Producers.
The Australian Energy Producers Journal welcomes papers from industry professionals on a broad range of issues for consideration by the journal's Editorial Board. A Call for Papers (Paper Proposal) for the following year’s Australian Energy Producers Conference is released after each year’s event. Paper proposals, sent in response to the Call for Papers are evaluated in accordance with the following criteria:
- Submissions referring to case studies will be highly regarded.
- The paper proposal should contain significant new knowledge or experience in some field of relevance to the Australian upstream petroleum sector.
- Data in the paper proposal must be technically correct. It must present the results of field experience.
- Your paper should be exclusive to the Australian Energy Producers Journal, and not one previously published or presented at another conference. Previous papers can serve as the basis of yours, but all papers must include new and original material.
- It is critical that prior to paper proposal submission, company and joint venture clearance must be obtained. Any perceived problems concerning clearance should be outlined when the paper proposal is submitted along with your plan to obtain all approvals prior to final paper submission.
- The proposed paper may present information about equipment and tools to be used in exploration and production. Such paper proposals must show the definite applications and limitations of such equipment and should avoid undue commercialism and extensive use of trade names. Proposals that are deemed to represent commercial advertising material (advertorials) will not be considered.
- A 'no paper — no presentation' policy is used by Australian Energy Producers. Authors who do not submit their papers by the due date will be removed from the program and replaced by an alternate paper.
- Owing to the high number of papers we expect to receive (in the past few years we have received around ~300 submissions), we cannot guarantee that all submissions will be accepted for presentation/publication. (We aim to have about 120 presented and published each year). Due to the competitive nature of the application to present and the necessity to plan many months in advance, the decision to withdraw a submission after it has been accepted is not viewed favourably and may affect consideration of any future submissions.
