Abstract

Following the formation of the SAGASCO Holdings Group in 1988, safety performance was set to become a common unifying cultural strength across the Group. By establishing specific safety targets and action plans, marketing and communicating the message throughout the Group, and making Line Managers accountable and responsible for the safety performance of their teams, major improvements in safety were achieved. Not only were new lower accident records set, but improved safety outcomes contributed in a major way to the overall improvement in profit achieved by the SAGASCO Group over the past four years.
