Abstract
1982 was a year of mixed fortune for petroleum exploration in Tasmania. Although the year opened on a high note with two wells to be drilled, the first in three years, the Pipipa I well in the Bass Basin was a dry hole and Cape Sorell I in the West Tasmanian Sub-Basin did not report a discovery. Further discouragement resulted from no applications being made for offshore acreage offered on the west, south and east coasts and minimal activity occurred onshore.https://doi.org/10.1071/AJ82031
