Abstract
Paul Korner's life's work centered on unraveling the sympatho-adrenal control of the circulation and applying this knowledge to understanding the pathogenesis of hypertension and to improving the management of cardiovascular diseases. He made major contributions as Foundation Professor of Physiology at the University of New South Wales (1960–8), as the first Scandrett Professor of Cardiology at the University of Sydney and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (1968–74), and as Director of the Baker Institute for Medical Research (1975–90). After retirement in 1990, he undertook his last major work, writing an influential single-author text, Essential Hypertension and it Causes.https://doi.org/10.1071/HR13008
