Managing integrity of operating FPSOs

Abstract
The last few years have been challenging ones for the oil and gas industry with a significant drop in oil price. At the same time ageing facilities and a more dynamic market have been driving the need for becoming more efficient in the way we do our business, i.e. business as usual is not enough anymore. It is not only about individual efforts, the global response to the need for becoming more efficient has driven an increase in collaborative initiatives among the industry which we will all benefit from. A few of these initiatives have significantly improved the way we manage offshore floating structures engineering at Woodside.
Astrid Barros graduated in Naval Architecture in 1992 followed by a Masters and Doctorate in Ocean Engineering. Her work experience includes engineering and management roles across the oil and gas industry including marine classification, offshore drilling and oil and gas production. Astrid relocated to Australia and joined Woodside in 2013 after completing the fabrication of a series of offshore deep-water drilling units in Singapore and Korea. Currently Astrid leads the Floating Structures discipline in Woodside, is part of the Industry Advisory Council for the Australian Maritime College and is Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Australia. |
