Sixteen new species of Parmelia (subgen. Xanthoparmelia) lichens are described from southern Australia, namely P. antleriformis, P, bungendorensis, P. consociata, P, elaeodes, P. etheridgensis, P. exillima; P. luminosa, P. mannumensis, P. metastrigosa, P, neotinctina, P.pseudoamphixantha, P.pustuliza, P, remanens, P. scabropustulata, P. subpumila and P. xanthosorediata. P. neotinctina and P. scabropustulata are also widely distributed in New Zealand. In addition, the new combination Parmelia multipartita has been made and the chemistry of this species and P. subcrustacea are discussed in detail for the first time.
