Abstract

The new species Coniochaeta angustispora sp. nov, is described from isolates obtained from roots of Gahnia radula in Victoria. It is distinguished by the particularly narrow ascospores. A key to the 11 species of Coniochaeta now known to occur in pure culture is provided together with notes on their habitats and distribution. The following species are also reported from Australia, most for the first time: Coniochaeta leucoplaca (Berk. & Rav.) Cain, C. ligniaria (Grev.) Massee, C. nepalica Minoura et al, and C. tetraspora Cain.
