John Briggs leads the Blake Dawson Brisbane Environment and Development team. He advises major corporations and government on all aspects of environmental law, particularly on the impacts for major resources and infrastructure projects in Queensland. John has advised on environmental and related statutory processes for new mining, petroleum, energy and infrastructure projects. He has also advised many clients on environmental incident management, site contamination issues, and environmental compliance. He has most recently advised clients on legal and policy issues impacting on the coal industry on greenhouse emission issues in project approvals, regulation of emission and abatement reporting and participation in existing and planned emission trading schemes.

Gavin Scott is a senior associate at Blake Dawson. His main focus is on securing approvals for resources projects including advising on tenure, environmental, native title and cultural heritage issues. Gavin holds a Masters degree in environmental resources law and is undertaking a Doctoral thesis on the impact of climate change on the management of mineral resources projects in Australia.
