Maurice Merzian is an Australian with an international background. With an Engineering degree from the University of Toronto, Canada, and a Master of Business Administration from McGill University, Montreal, he joined Shell 34 years ago. After several engineering and planning assignments in Canada, he arrived in Australia in 1979 and progressed his career in Project Management with major assignments in Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Nigeria and Oman. Most of projects covered different fields of hydrocarbon developments — refining, chemicals, gas, LNG and upstream work. He is a senior member of the project directors’ group part of Shell Global Solutions International. He now holds a Project Executive position for Shell Development Australia in Perth, leading the Shell support on project execution for the Greater Gorgon Development. His home base is in Sydney, where his children are pursuing their university degrees, but maintaining his ‘footy’ allegiance to Geelong but admiring Perth’s beauty.
