About the Editors-in-Chief
Editor-in-Chief - Stefan Doerr
Stefan Doerr holds a Diplom (MSc) in Geography (with Botany and Geology) from Universität Tübingen (Germany). His PhD (Swansea University, UK) was on the effects of forest fires on hydrological processes. He has investigated the environmental impacts of wildfires in Europe, Australia, and North America. He is currently Professor of Physical Geography at Swansea and has held recent collaborative research positions at the CSIRO in Canberra (Australia), Universitat de València (Spain) and the US Geological Survey (Denver, USA), which focused on the relationships between fire severity, fire frequency and post-fire responses of burned terrain.

Editor-in-Chief - Martin Girardin
Martin P. Girardin holds BA and MS degrees in biological studies from the Université du Québec à Montréal and a PhD in botany from the University of Manitoba, Canada. Since 2005, he has been a research scientist in forest ecology with the Canadian Forest Service and an Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Forest Research, Université du Québec à Montréal. His research focuses on fire-vegetation-climate interactions, encompassing fire regimes, behaviour, and climate change impacts on boreal forests using paleoecology, dendroecology, climatology, and ecosystem modelling. His integrated data and models provide insights for sustainable forest management and wildfire risk mitigation, fostering global collaborations to address environmental challenges.
