Abstract
The discrepancy between the values of B(E2) for the transition between the ground and first excited states in 180 as obtained from Coulomb excitation measurements and from other measurements is here attributed to the giant dipole resonance (GDR) contribution to Coulomb excitation; an estimate based on shell model calculations predicts this contribution to be much larger than previously assumed.https://doi.org/10.1071/PH820377
