Abstract
This paper presents observations at eighteen nests of the Purple-crowned Pigeon near Kuranda, northern Queensland. The nest is described. The clutch size was one and the incubation period fourteen days. The male incubates and broods during the day and the female at night. Development of the chick is described. Breeding success was 25 per cent. The fledging period appeared to be a remarkably short six to eight days.
