Abstract

The use of a particle-size analyser for determining the fecundity of barramundi, L. calcarifer, is described. Fecundity was determined on 29 fish, 480-1 350 mm total length. The relationship between fecundity (F × 106) and length (L, mm) was exponential, F = 0.3089 e0.0035L. Fecundity in large fish was variable with the highest estimate being 46 × 106 eggs in a fish of 1240 mm length.
