A new genus and two new species of plant Nematode (Tylenchidae) from Australia

Abstract

A new genus and two new species of plant-parasitic nematodes from Australia are described. Arboritynchus simpsoni, gen. nov., sp. nov., collected from rainforest in northern New South Wales is related to Tylodorus and shows similarity in several characters, except for the four prominent labial lobes and lateral field commencing at the base of the lip region. Tylodorus fisheri, sp. nov., collected from Eucalyptus forest in South Australia is described. It differs from T. acuminatus in that the labial disc is less prominent, the vulva more anteriorly situated, the tail longer and much more filiform, and the stylet and total nematode are longer.
