Revision of the genus Megochterus Jaczewski (Insecta : Heteroptera : Ochteridae)

Abstract

The genus Megochterus Jaczewski is revised. Proof is furnished by comparson of the type series with east Australian specimens, that the name of the single known species M. nasutus (Montandon) refers to the eastern population. A lectotype is designated for M. nasutus. The southwestern Australian population is newly described as Megochterus occidentalis, sp. nov. A detailed differential diagnosis of both species is presented.
