The Pacific species of Trachyopella Duda, (Diptera: Sphaeroceridae)

Abstract

Fourteen species of the sphaerocerid genus Trachyopella are recorded from the Pacific region, including the new species Trachyopella aposterni, T. apotarsati, T. brevisectoris, T. luteocera, T. pedimera, and T. vockerothi. Trachyopella obliqua (Richards) is placed in synonymy with T. collinella (Richards), comb. nov. All species not covered in recent work on Holarctic Trachyopella are illustrated and described. Znsulomyia Papp is treated as a synonym of Trachyopella.
