Abstract
The following species are described from New Guinea: Diphoropria barymorpha, D. niuginiae, D. zaplethes, D. phaeocala, D. gressitti and D. pericompsa (the last also recorded from Solomon IS). Papuapria, gen. nov., is proposed for P. dasciodes, sp. nov., from New Guinea, and P. hemichroma, sp nov., from New Guinea and the Solomon Is. Distribution records are provided for Gwaihiria allocerata Naumann, two undescribed species of Perissodryas, Diphoropria nigricans (Dodd) and D. pseudoclavata (Dodd). The historical biogeography of the Melanesian Ambositrinae is discussed in the context of plate tectonics. Altitudinal distributions of species are reviewed.https://doi.org/10.1071/IT9870439
