Abstract

At BHP Billiton our people are our most important asset. So how do we create an environment to allow them to achieve their full potential?

We truly believe that our culture, one that supports inclusion of all people and diversity of input, is a critical lever to deliver high performance. At BHP Billiton we have measured that our most inclusive and diverse teams consistently outperform the company average performance in Safety, Productivity and Culture - finding that more inclusive and diverse teams have higher employee engagement, are more innovative, better able to mitigate risk, and deliver superior business results.

In this session we will discuss how BHP Billiton is working to create an inclusive and diverse culture to inspire its workforce to reach their full potential and deliver exceptional business results.

Graham Salmond BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering, University of Strathclyde, UK is BHP Billiton’s Petroleum General Manager, Australia.
