Abstract

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) is the largest offshore oil and gas producer in China, and one of the largest oil and gas exploration and production companies in the world.

Continued economic development and sustained betterment of people’s life in the world present tremendous opportunity as well as a challenge to the world’s energy industry.

An important response to the challenge is collaboration—collaboration between and among energy companies, exporting and importing countries, technology and service providers, as well as financiers.

Since its incorporation in 1982, CNOOC maintained strong growth momentum, evolving from a purely upstream oil and gas exploration outfit to an integrated group of energy-related companies with promising primary businesses and a complete industrial chain.

Taking advantage of the industry’s collective knowledge, and financial and human resources, CNOOC has embarked on a journey to build a respected energy company, a responsible and active participant of the global supply system based on the assets and exploration portfolio offshore China and outside.

CNOOC is striving to be a company that operates efficiently, safely and responsibly, a company that adds value to the community and investors, and a company that is designed to be long-term focused, patient and humble to work with all of our industry partners, regulators, policy makers, and other stakeholders, to become an integral part of the industry’s solution to fuel the world’s growth engine.

Yongfeng Lu was born in October 1966, and since March 2010 has been the Chief Representative of CNOOC Australia and concurrently the Managing Director of CNOOC NWS Pty Ltd.

He graduated from Nanjing University with a bachelor’s degree in 1988, and joined China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) at the same time.

Yongfeng has more than 27 years of work experience with CNOOC, and has played a critical role in a series of overseas transactions including the purchases of working interest in five PSCs from Repsol and Tangguh LNG, from BG in Indonesia, and in the North West Shelf Gas Project from the previous six shareholders in Australia. He also played a role in both trial bidding for BG’s share in Kashagan and the sale of Unocal.
