Abstract
The name, Nappamerri Formation, is proposed for the Triassic section within the Cooper basin of South Australia and Queensland. Four separable rock units comprise the Nappamerri Formation and are classified as members. The formation was deposited in an essentially continental-fluvial environment. Except locally, the Nappamerri Formation conformably overlies the Permian, Gidgealpa Formation and is in turn, unconformably overlain by the Hulton Sandstone of Jurassic age. The extent of the Nappamerri Formation approximates the limits of the Cooper basin and the thickness of this formation ranges to over 2.500 feet in the deeper parts of the basin.https://doi.org/10.1071/AJ68014
