John England serves as Vice Chairman and US Oil & Gas leader for Deloitte LLP across all of its functions, which include consulting, audit and enterprise risk services, tax, and financial advisory services. In this role, John helps oil and gas companies solve their most complex challenges, while also overseeing the significant investment Deloitte is making in its Oil & Gas practice. Most notably, he steers Deloitte’s overall delivery of a broad range of professional services, from technology integration and operational consulting to human capital offerings and tax services, as well as financial advisory offerings and attest services. Prior to taking over his industry leadership role, John led the energy trading and risk management practice for Deloitte, where he focused on energy derivative accounting and related risk management systems and processes, and served as an expert witness on these matters.

Andrew Smith is Chairman of Shell Australia and Vice-President of the company’s upstream operations in Australia and New Zealand. As part of this role, Andrew has responsibilities for the company’s significant investments in exploration and the manufacturing of liquefied natural gas for export.

Included in this business is the company’s world leading floating liquefied natural gas project, Prelude, in the Browse Basin. Andrew also has oversight of Shell’s interests in the North West Shelf joint venture, the Gorgon project on Barrow Island, Arrow Energy in Queensland and the Browse LNG venture led by Woodside.

Andrew began his career with Shell Australia in 1986 as an engineer at the company’s Geelong Refinery. He spent the early years in technical and operational roles before moving to Fiji in 1999 as General Manager of Shell’s Fiji and Pacific Islands business.

Following this Andrew moved to London as a global team leader in the Product Trading business, then to Singapore as Shell’s regional Manufacturing Director, a role that included management of Shell’s world class Pulau Bukom Refinery. In 2006 Andrew was appointed Shell’s Vice-President of Global Products Trading—managing one of the largest trading organisations in the world.
