Abstract
An eight-parent diallel set of crosses among spring wheats together with parents were used for studying the yield potential of the crosses in the F2 generation. The results of diallel analysis in the F1 generation performed on yield-determining characters, as well as analysis on yield performance in the F2 progeny, were considered for employing various methods of cross prediction. The prediction methods used gave consistent results with regard to preselection classification of the hybrids for yield. Further handling of the potential high-yielding crosses is outlined.https://doi.org/10.1071/AR9730169
