Abstract
The feasibility of molecular solid-state reactions by grinding for the synthesis of coordination polymers with aligned trans-1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethene ligands suitable for [2+2] photoreaction has been investigated. The results provide an insight into the reactivity of the precursors in the absence of solvents.
