The X-Ray Crystal-Structure of 5-C-Methyl-α-L-idopyranose

Abstract

The crystal structure of 5-C-methyl-α-L-idopyranose (1) has been determined by X-ray diffraction. Crystals of (1), prepared as the hemihydrate, are tetragonal, space group P4₁2₁2 with a 7.4931(3), c 32.645(2)Ǻ, Z 8, Refinement on 1043 observed reflections measured with Cu Kα radiation converged at R 0.031.
