The Oxidation of Some Bisphenolic 1-Phenethyltetrahydroisoquinolines Studied by E.S.R. Spectroscopy

Abstract

1-(3,5-Dimethoxy-4-hydroxyphenylethyl)-6-methoxy-2-ethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolin-7-ol exhibits only a spectrum of the aryloxy radical of the phenethyl ring when oxidized in a flow system. This radical was characterized with the aid of a model compound. No radical could be obtained from (±)- homoorientaline.
