Abstract

The magnetic susceptibilities in the temperature range 80-350 K are reported for iron(III) complexes of the type FeL(OMe)2, where L is alkanoate. The magnetic behaviour and the presence of a single C-O methoxide stretching band at 1038-1052 cm-1 are interpreted in terms of a tetrameric structure involving trigonal prismatic antiferromagnetically interacting iron atoms arranged in a planar cluster and equivalent, bridging methoxo groups.
