Some reactions of 1,4-Bischlorocarbonylpiperazine

Abstract

1,4-Bischlorocarbonylpiperazine reacts with amines, amino acid esters, thiols, phenols, and imidazole to give crystalline derivatives. Reaction with piperazine gives polyureas. The reagent appears to be too unstable to aqueous solvents to act as a cross-linking agent for proteins.
