Synthesis of 6,7,8-Trimethoxy-1-naphthol

Abstract

      6,5,8-Trimethoxy-1-naphthol was prepared in a seven-step synthesis beginning with the Stobbe condensation of 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde and dimethyl succinate. Each step gave yields better than 80%.
