Abstract
Hippuric acid has been converted into 4-benzamido-1,2-dithiol-3-one (16% yield) by the successive action of ethyl orthoformate in acetic anhydride and then hydrogen sulphide, sulphur, and quinoline. Replacement of the benzoyl group by other acyl groups has given a series of acylamino compounds, and in some cases the corresponding 3-thiones have also been prepared.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9640447
