The Chemistry of Eucalypt Kinos. III. (+)-Afzelechin, Pyrogallol, and (+)-Catechin from Eucalyptus calophylla Kino

Abstract

Pyrogallol, (+)-catechin, and a new flavanol, (+)-afzelechin (3,5,7,4'-tetrahydroxy-flavan), have been isolated from the kino of Eucalyptue calophylla R.Br. Gallocatechin and epicatechin have been identified chromatographically. In addition, a compound which resembles (-)-epiafzelechin chromatographically, has been detected.
