Abstract

The bark of Syncarpia laurifolia Tenn. yields p-sitosterol, betulinic acid, ursolic acid, and " syncarpic acid " which is identified as 1,1,5,5-tetramethylcyclohexan-2,4,6-trione (I). Some reactions of this substance are described.
