Abstract
The resistivities, types of conduction, thermo-e.m.f.'s, and rectifying ability of the sulphides, selenides, and tellurides of the elements Ti, Zr, Hf, and Th were determined. A wide range of properties was found and the variations reflect the trend within this group of compounds from semimetallic in the case of Ti to metallic in the case of Th. The transition from non-metallic to metallic affinities that occurs from sulphur to tellurium is likewise evident.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9580471
