Abstract
The structure previously assigned to the N-(methoxycarbonyl)aporphine alkaloid (±)cathaformine has been confirmed by a total synthesis of the racemic substance in which the key step involved formation of ring C by a radical-initiated cyclization.Keywords: Alkaloid; aporphine; isoquinoline; synthesis.
