Abstract
An investigation has been made of the inheritance of some lignotuber characters and the inter- relationship of inorganic nutrients to lignotuber development in E. gummifera. This investigation has confirmed that lignotuber development is (a) inherited and (b) influenced by substrate phosphorus concentration. Chemical analyses also confirm that the lignotuber is an important storage organ for inorganic nutrients and starch.
