A Revision of Varieties of Stylosanthes guianensis (Aubl.) Sw

Abstract

A key, illustrations, descriptions and areas of distribution are presented for the following 6 varieties recognized in S. guianensis: guianensis, gracilis (Kunth) Vog., intermedia (Vog.) Hassler, robusta var. nov., dissitiflora (Robins. & Seat.) stat. nov., and longiseta (Mich.) Hassler.

Introduced Australian material has been identified and features of the varieties relating to flowering, Rhizobium. affinities, genetic barriers, seed protein pattern and morphological-agronomic relations are presented.
