Abstract
Thirty-three morphological and microanatomical features have been used to generate vegetative keys for the 23 acacias of the Australian Capital Territory. The same attributes have proved capable of resolving a larger sample, incorporating a further 26 species from Victoria. These and other attributes could be recorded for all the Australian species, in order to establish an automated system for generating special-purpose vegetative keys; and if conventional identificatory characters were also included, a fully comprehensive key-generating system could be achieved.
