Callitriche in New Zealand and Australia

Abstract

A revision of Callitriche in New Zealand and Australia shows that 13 species (one with two subspecies) occur in these countries, of which C. capricorni (Queensland), C. petriei (New Zealand), and C. aucklandica (Auckland Is.) are new. C. palustria L. (syn. C. verna L.) occurs in Victoria only, not as hitherto recorded in New Zealand and widely in Australia. C. stagnalis Scop. and C. hamulata Ktzg. are adventives in Australia and New Zealand, and C. heterophylla Pursh emend.

Darby in New Zealand. C. petriei subsp. petriei is the first dioecious taxon found in the genus.
