Mercury residues in apple fruit sprayed with phenyl mercuric chloride

Abstract
Mercury residues were measured in Jonathan and Granny Smith apples from trees sprayed one to four times before harvest with phenyl mercuric chloride (2 oz per 100 gallons). The mean mercury content after four applications was 0.04 p.p.m. There were no differences between varieties.
