Abstract
Blood of dingoes and domestic dogs were compared electrophoretically for five loci encoding the proteins transferrin, haptoglobin and haemoglobin. No differences were found. An artifact may be created in the haptoglobin phenotype if the serum is not saturated with haemoglobin, two bands appearing in the starch gel instead of one. Dingoes and domestic dogs may be closely related, therefore, though the possibility of extensive hybridisation cannot be dismissed. Immunoglobulins may be better genetic markers to study, as in man.https://doi.org/10.1071/AM75006
