Abstract
A state-dependent dynamic crown fuel model is proposed. The model is a distance-dependent tree model. The model simulates crown characteristics such as foliage weight, crown base height, crown length and crown closure. The model is based on simplified dimensional growth relationships combined with photosynthesis and respiration. Preliminary tests of the model using coefficients derived from red pine, have shown that the model effectively simulates crown characteristics under a range of sites and silvicultural interventions. Keywords: Fire behavior; Fuel model
