Abstract
Approximately ten years ago the first experiments were performed in which the Auger electrons produced after inner-shell ionisation of atoms by electron impact were detected in coincidence with the scattered electrons. Only a limited number of such experiments have been performed since that time, mainly due to the very low count rates characteristic of these measurements. Recent developments in the field are discussed and the future prospects for such measurements are considered.https://doi.org/10.1071/PH960365
