Suicide mortality in NSW local government areas

Abstract

This is the fourth of a series of articles on the epidemiology of suicide in NSW by the Mental Health Epidemiology Group (MHIEG). Our first report presented Standardised Mortality Ratios (SMRs) for Area and District Health Services by pooling data across the 14-year period 1979-92. In this report we present the same analysis for Local Government Areas (LGAs). This is the finest level of geographic detail available in the Statewide death data.
