The Northern Scrub-Robin Drymodes superciliaris in the Northern Territory

Abstract

The only recorded occurrence of the Northern Scrub-robin in the Northern Territory is based on specimens collected by M.J. Colclough, in 1910 at an unspecified locality on the Roper River. It has long been thought that three specimens were collected but the discovery of documents of Colclough concerning the trip and a reappraisal of the skins shows that only two Northern Scrub-robins were collected by him on the Roper.

Recent searches for the species in the Northern Territory have been fruitless. The species' apparent decline may be attributable to changes in the fire regime since European settlement.
