Abstract

The relationship between conductivity (x) and salinity (S) was investigated in 109 samples from Australian salt lakes. Within the range of 5-100 mS cm-1, the relationship is described by the equation:

S=0.4665x1.0878 (r2 = 0.98799)

where salinity is measured in g l-1 and conductivity in mS cm-1 at 25º C. A table based on this relationship is given; it enables the rapid determination of salinity from conductivity.
