Littoral Penaeinae from New South Wales and Adjacent Queensland Waters

Abstract

The taxonomy of the subfamily Penaeinae has been revised and coordinated with the latest results of overseas workers, following chiefly Burkenroad's systematic groupings. A key to groups, genera, and species is given for Penaeinae occurring in Australian waters and the adjacent part of the Indo-Pacific region, with special reference to those on the east coast of Australia. Sixteen species occurring in commercial catches off New South Wales and southern Queensland are fully described, and 11 illustrated.
