Abstract

Three genera of Geotrupinae occur in New Guinea: Gilletinus Boucomont, with seven species; Australobolbus Howden and Cooper, with eight species; and Blackburnium Boucomont with one species. These are keyed and illustrated, and the following new species are described: Gilletinus acutus, G. rabaulensis, G. variegatus, G. occidentalis, G. rugoslfrons, G. bipagus, Australobolbus papuanus, A. bacchusi, A. latipennis, A. tricornis, A. cruciatus, and A. parvus. Four of the New Guinea species, Gilletinus bipagus, Australobolbus I. laratinus (Arrow), A. rotundatus (Hope), and Blackburnium rhinoceros (Macleay), also occur on mainland Australia. The remainder are endemic to New Guinea and its adjacent islands.
