Abstract

The leaves of pineapples conditioned to 6:6 h light:dark (L:D) cycles, with 32:24ºC L:D temperatures, had lower chlorophyll concentrations, lower malate concentrations at the beginning of the light period, and higher malate concentrations at the end of the light period than the leaves of pineapples conditioned to 6:18 h L:D cycles, with 32:24ºC L:D temperatures. These results are consistent with a nightlength acclimation that involves the specific crassulacean acid metabolism pathways.
